Christmas is welcomed with a speech by Kent Wisti and atmospheric singing by Olof Wallberg. The choir Korallerna, with soloist Tove Nyquist, sings wonderful Christmas carols. Take the opportunity to take a first ride on the ice rink, which also opens in conjunction with the tree lighting.
This year, Lund's Christmas decorations are themed "Winter Glow" - when winter is at its darkest, a sparkling sky lights up in the middle of the city.

This year we are doing things a little differently and turning things around. This means that the stage with speeches and songs will be located in the southern part of the square, by the tree in front of the City Hall. The fir tree will remain in its usual place, in the northern part of the square.
We are changing the arrangement this year because we believe it will flow more smoothly, as bus traffic past the square will be running, and the direction from Botulfsplatsen is closed. We want the flow for the several thousand visitors who usually come to work as smoothly as possible. You can get to and from Stortorget via:

* Stora Södergatan (from the north and south)
* King's Street
* Shoemaker Street
* Kattesund
