Experts agree that car traffic must be reduced significantly for the sake of the environment and the climate. Despite this, traffic is still planned with the car as the starting point and solutions that benefit cycling are being overlooked. Janet van der Meulen, PhD at LTH, has studied the strong hold of the car norm in national planning from a power perspective and how this affects both local and regional planning. She will also discuss what changes are needed for more sustainable traffic planning.
