Francis of Assisi – in a Nordic perspective

Lecture evening with Martin Berntson.

The world is currently celebrating Francis, who died on October 3, 1226. He has been called the fool of God. He is always current and relevant. He is loved as the protector of animals and nature, a symbol of peace, tolerance and religious dialogue. Franciscanism came to the Nordic countries early on and left a lasting impression.

In the book "Monastic Life - a History of Spirituality in the Middle of the World", Martin Berntson provides an overview of the Christian monastic tradition.

Martin Berntson is a professor of religious studies and theology with a focus on church history. He has written and contributed to a number of books and articles, and his research interests include early modern church history in Sweden and the rest of the Nordic region.

The event is part of this spring's lecture series "Carrying Life." The series consists of five lectures that in different ways touch on issues of sharing faith that brings life through action, attitude, and word.
