From volunteering to community and social sustainability

How can volunteering contribute to a more socially sustainable society? Social sustainability is about creating societies where people feel included, connected and valued. One way to strengthen this is through volunteering. During this event, we explore how volunteering can create belonging, reduce loneliness and build bridges between people from different backgrounds. Through personal stories, we highlight how volunteering not only benefits society, but also provides meaning and well-being for the individual.

Two active volunteers from Interkultur, a Swedish-American couple, share their experiences of engaging in activities such as language cafes and intercultural meeting places. They reflect on how their volunteering has impacted their lives, created new connections, and deepened their sense of community in Lund.

We will also present Frivilligkraft, Lund Municipality's platform for volunteering, and show different ways that people can get involved.

The event concludes with an open dialogue where participants are invited to reflect, share thoughts and ask questions about volunteering and social sustainability.

The event is arranged by Frivilligkraft in collaboration with Interkultur in Lund and will be held in English.
