Holocaust Remembrance Day

Every year we mark Holocaust Remembrance Day with an event with free entry.

This year there will be a talk in the Auditorium with Ulf Zander from Lund University and the author Barbro Posner. In collaboration with Författarcentrum Syd, a poetry reading by Freke Räihä is also presented. You can also visit the exhibition To survive – Voices from Ravensbrück. Free entry to the event from 12.30:XNUMX p.m.

Program for the day

At 12.55-13.00 The program begins with music by Akane Kusakabe (piano).

At 13.00 p.m. Museum director Gustav Olsson welcomes and observes a minute's silence.

At 13.05–13.45 "In the middle of Europe and the center of Holocaust memory: Auschwitz 1270-2025". Lecture with Ulf Zander from Lund University.

At 13.50–14.30 "Year after year bearing witness to evil - About the Holocaust's eyewitnesses in Malmö". Lecture with Barbro Posner

At 14.35–14.55 Freke Räihä reads Testimony, a polyphony around testimony and resistance that is partly based on the archive Voices from Ravensbrück. Freke is a writer, critic, translator and writing teacher. (presented by Författarcentrum Syd). Ending with a piece of music by Akane Kusakabe

At 15.00–15.30 After the talk there is an opportunity to visit the Culture exhibition To survive – Voices from Ravensbrück. The exhibition contains unique items (clothes, recipes, toys and other testimonies) that belonged to women and children who were rescued from the German concentration camp Ravensbrück. Exhibition pedagogue Annika Mandahl and curator Nina Davis are present in the exhibition and answer questions.

ATTENTION! The rest of the museum is closed because it is Monday.
