Sigrid Holmwood. The peasant painter – on the figure of the peasant in European art history
Lecture at Lund Art Gallery on Thursday, November 20th at 18 pm
The lecturer Sigrid Holmwood, born in 1978, is a Swedish-British artist stay in Malmö. She works with the history of European painting and textiles and their relationship to the peasant figure. A non-romanticizing research into plant dyeing is central to her work. She follows the history of plants and explores their connections to folk beliefs, colonialism and modernity.
