Lecture: Women's Art History
Western art history, before the breakthrough of modernism, is largely a male history. But there are women who defied conventions. Women who have been praised and supported by their contemporaries and have often shown great innovative power, but who have been forgotten or repressed by posterity. But when we reach the 1900th century, art history will literally explode with female artists who break norms and tread new paths forward. We meet some of the strong women of art history, their motives and conditions.
Lecturer Desirée Lennklo is an art historian with a master's degree from Lund University. She works with contemporary art at Tomelilla Art Gallery, lectures and organizes art tours.
