Banning anti-personnel mines – putting people first

The Red Cross's volunteer international law informants in Lund invite you to a seminar where we delve deeper into the Ottawa Convention, the international agreement that bans anti-personnel mines and aims to reduce the humanitarian suffering that these weapons cause.

During the seminar, we will discuss the background to the Convention, its key provisions and the significance it has had for the protection of civilians in conflict zones. We will also touch on the challenges that remain in ensuring full implementation of the prohibition and the roles that states and humanitarian actors play in this work.

A warm welcome to the City Hall in Lund on March 3, 2026 at 4:00 PM to take part in this event.
