People's Corner + Translation Center

Welcome to the People's Corner TRANSLATION at the Sketches Museum in Lund and live on Zoom!

Contributing authors are Anna Gilham & Anna Arvidsdotter.

Therése Granwald from People's Corner and Elin Rosén from the Translators' Center will lead the discussion.

People's corner - work in progress is a stage for fiction texts in process. At Folkets hörna, two authors participate on each occasion, one who is already established and one who has not yet been published by the established publishers. Each writer reads a short excerpt from an ongoing writing project and then receives feedback from two writing educators who lead the text conversations. They also receive feedback from the other participating author and from the audience. In this way, the authors get a unique opportunity to test their work in progress on others, and the audience gets a rare insight into and opportunity to influence an author's writing process. You don't have to participate in the conversation, it's fine to just listen, but it's encouraged.

Anna Gilham is a translator and aspiring poet. Anna has translated about fifty books from Danish and English: everything from My little pony to Nordic noir. Anna also translates poetry, and is currently putting the finishing touches on the poetry suite Dear Night Book at the Writers' School in Lund which deals with postpartum depression. Anna has lived in Copenhagen for 20 years but is originally from Lund.

Anna Arvidsdotter is a poet and translator from Danish and Norwegian. In 2022 she made her book debut as a poet with the poetry collection Hands to hold, after having long been established within Swedish spoken word. Her class-conscious poetry points to absurdities in the work and with lyrical playfulness, rhythm and style assurance she pokes holes in the late capitalist world. As a translator, she has so far translated three titles and is currently working on a Danish prose project.
