The women's choir Korallerna invites you to a concert in Lund Cathedral where Gabriel Fauré's Requiem is performed, arranged for women's choir, organ and string quintet.
The Catholic Death Mass has been interpreted and set to music by countless composers – perhaps most famously by Mozart, Verdi and Brahms. Unlike these three compositions, full of terror and rage, Gabriel Fauré chose to compose his requiem based on the literal meaning of the Latin word: rest. The result is a ground-breaking requiem with beautiful, shimmering sounds that allow the listener to contemplate life and death with security and warmth. We hope that it will be a nice moment during All Saints' Day, where you as an audience can think a little extra about those who have left us.
