Edda Magnason releases an album of poems in Swedish and goes on tour – and sits down behind the grand piano at Stadshallen on October 24.
Edda Magnason became nationally famous in one fell swoop from being a celebrated artist in connoisseur circles. Her portrayal of Monica Zetterlund amazed both critics and a large film audience and she received a Guldbagge for her performance. Edda's expression does not rest on anyone else's, she is a personal artist with a wonderful voice and aura, constantly searching further in music - and on the theater stage. Edda has long yearned to tour alone and play and sing again, without a band. It is the piano that is the foundation of everything she does and has done - that's where it all began.
In August, Edda Magnason will release a poetry album in Swedish.
-"This is the result of a sudden desire to write in my own language. Spoken words and piano playing are at the center. Sometimes detached, sometimes more narrative. It has been liberating to put the vocal focus aside for a while and open another door to lyrics and music. I see it as charcoal sketches from someone who happens to be around until 2025.
One of those who photographs the sky when spring comes. Who struggles with their inner ghosts and finds themselves saying no and then offering ice cream completely inconsistently. About car bastards that never get sold and the beauty of making things nice around themselves with what is at hand – hanging cans in perfect balance. It's about blue that is no longer a color but a feeling that transcends boundaries. And it's about someone who buys everything with their last penny – everything for a feeling that warms cold feet.
"Although it's not exactly comedy that I've been working on, the process of creating this has been so much fun. Completely free from conventions or judgmental thoughts. Something I've tried to live up to even in the actual record production, which consists of mostly untouched recordings of conversations at the piano."
The album "Den gigantiska sjön" will be released on August 22, 2025 and at the same time Edda will embark on a solo tour - with a stop at Stadshallen on October 24.
