It's the same donkey, just with a new saddle

In 2022, Anders “Ankan” Johansson achieved great success with his solo debut “Everyone Knows Ankan”. It was a hit for a year and a half, Borås Tidning described it as “the best stand-up show of the year” and Barometern named Ankan “among the most popular we have”. In the fall of 2025 and spring of 2026, Ankan will return to the stage with a newly written comedy show. The new show has been given the slightly different title “It’s the same donkey, just with a new saddle – A comedy show with Anders “Ankan” Johansson” and is a joke show about how we never learn. Ankan thought we agreed that it’s good to tell the truth, help each other and be kind, but apparently not. The jokes and mistakes will return. On March 1, Ankan will return to Lund City Theatre with his show!

With over 20 years in the humor and media industry, Anders “Ankan” Johansson has become one of Sweden’s most beloved comedians, including as one half of the popular humor duo Anders & Måns. In 2020, Ankan was named Male Comedian of the Year at the “Swedish Humor Award” gala, and last fall he won the Kristallen TV award for his slightly different travel program “Rostiga roadtrips,” which he made for SVT together with Valle Westesson. We have also been able to see him sailing “Across the Atlantic” on Kanal 5. In “It’s the same donkey, just with a new saddle – A humor show with Anders “Ankan” Johansson,” Ankan wants to take the audience on a new journey:

*“It’s the same donkey, just with a new saddle” is an Afghan proverb said about people who have gained a higher position than they deserve.

There is a lot that makes me happy, a lot that makes me wonder and a lot that makes me angry.

You are slowly surprised. Didn't we agree that it is good to tell the truth, help each other and be kind? Apparently we never learn, the idiocy, the pranks and the mistakes come back. Who is rewarded and who is not rewarded? Old opinions, ancient mistakes, the same old men, new suits. I want to joke about this.

This will be my second solo performance. I am the same donkey – just with a new saddle.

Hope you want to come.”*

The performance premiered at Falkenbergs Stadsteater on September 26, 2025 and is followed by a Swedish tour around the country where he visits cities such as Linköping, Stockholm, Malmö, Värnamo and Visby.
