In recent decades, the climate has become both warmer and more unpredictable. Andreas Nord, associate professor of ecological and evolutionary physiology, talks about how this is affecting animals and nature, with a particular focus on birds.
We will move from the important interplay between when birds decide to lay eggs and when they expect the most larvae to feed their young, to how the young in the nest are affected by warmer or colder temperatures as they grow and develop. And what about the parents? Can they really care for their young well if it is too hot?
Andreas Nord also touches on how the warmer climate is affecting the Swedish bird fauna. Have we gained new birds, and will some disappear?
The lecture is introduced by Per Persson, Dean of the Faculty of Science. Organized in collaboration with Lund University and the Crafoord Foundation. Free admission, no pre-registration required.
