How can circus contribute to answering broader questions about human participation in the world?

Humans are currently facing complex crises on planet Earth. Since 2020, the performing arts sector has been disrupted. Now in 2023, we are at the intersection of old ways and new ways of doing things. In this seminar Marie-Andrée Robitaille will address the following questions: What does it mean to be a circus artist today? How can circus remain relevant in today's context How can circus help answer broader questions of human involvement in the world?
Southern Sweden Circus Festival is presented by Cirkus Syd in close collaboration with Riksteatern Skåne and Brazil Jack and is your chance to explore everything that classical and contemporary circus has to offer. The festival in its entirety will take place in September 2024 but we are sneaking the festival 7-10 September 2023. Witness brave and beautiful works by the best circus artists and companies around the world spread over many locations and stages in Lund and Malmö. We want to welcome as many people as possible, so most of the program items at the pre-festival are free to participate in and experience.
