In October, Christian Kjellvander will release his new album Ex Voto / The Silent Love. With that in mind, he will embark on an autumn tour of Sweden, landing in Lund and Mejeriet on December 13th!
In an ever-accelerating contemporary world, where immediate confirmation and measurability are rewarded, Christian Kjellvander's artistry stands out as a counterforce. His music is not built on quick kicks but on patience, consistency and a stubborn belief that what really matters takes time. Where others chase short-term confirmation, he has for almost three decades cultivated a musical world characterized by integrity, reflection and a baritone voice that contains both comfort and worry. Since his solo debut “Songs from a Two-Room Chapel” (2002), Christian Kjellvander has built a discography that lacks many counterparts in Sweden – with solo albums such as “I Saw Her from Here / I Saw Here” (2007), “Wild Hxmans” (2018) and “Hold Your Love Still” (2023), side by side with groundbreaking collaborations such as “Doom Country” (2020) and “Fossils” (2023) together with Tonbruket.
Now Christian Kjellvander returns with “Ex Voto / The Silent Love” – a quiet and deeply intimate album that can also be seen as the final part in an unofficial trilogy about love’s most tender, conflict-filled and spiritual forms. Originally conceived as a collection of low-key country songs, the album grew into something more expansive during the course of the work – but the embryo of that quietness still vibrates under each track. Recorded live over a few days in an old summer house on the Skåne coast, the album captures both the breathlessness in the room and the silence between the notes. With “Ex Voto / The Silent Love”, Christian Kjellvander once again solidifies his position as one of the country’s most visionary and unwavering voices – an artist who does not underestimate his audience and who therefore feels absolutely necessary.
