Carola Grahn was born in 1982 in Jokkmokk, Saepmie, but is now active in Malmö. In recent years she has had an extensive exhibition activity both in Sweden and internationally. Last year her work Trädgränsen was shown in the Wanås Konst sculpture park, and After the Sun—Forecasts from the North is currently on display at the Buffalo AKG Art Museum in New York.
With her art, Carola Grahn challenges stereotypes and power structures, with references to both popular culture and Sami traditions. She explores our relationship with nature and often twists ideas from the Sami worldview in her artistry.
Hear her talk about her art, activism, the Sámi worldview and how it shapes her work. The conversation is led by author Paola Pellettieri. Paola holds creative lunch conversations – Brown Bag Lunches – at Skissernas. Thank You for the Match, her debut novel, was published in 2022. She will have a new book this spring.
The conversation is part of Nordic Light, and connects to Sami Elin Anna Labba's visit to the City Hall on Tuesday 26 November.
