Carla Zaccagnini. the mahi-mahi effect
Lund Art Gallery September 19 – November 29, 2026
Lunds konsthall is pleased to present the most extensive solo exhibition in Europe to date with the Malmö-based Argentine-Brazilian artist Carla Zaccagnini.
The core of the exhibition is a series of new works created during a month-long journey across the Atlantic: between September 17 and October 15 of last year, Zaccagnini traveled by sailing ship from Cascais, in southern Portugal, to Fernando de Noronha, an archipelago off the east coast of Brazil. Beyond its purely physical dimension, the journey was consciously conceived as an affective, epistemic and counter-pedagogical journey, an experience that came to permeate the entire exhibition.
These new productions share a performative character and are placed in dialogue with older works by Zaccagnini. In this way, the exhibition highlights some of the recurring themes and artistic strategies that characterize her conceptual practice. Through drawing, video installation and text, Zaccagnini explores non-Eurocentric perceptions of time and space, as well as the transformative potential contained in displacement and translation.
