There are more than 200 km of road network in Sweden, and roadsides are one of the few environments where you can still find plants and animals that were common in the older farming landscape. Can roadsides benefit the pollinating insects – or are they rather at risk of being run over by cars? What can authorities, municipalities and private individuals do to increase biodiversity along the roads?
The lecture is shared by Sofia Blomqvist, PhD student in environmental science at Lund University who researches these issues in collaboration with the Swedish Transport Administration, and Ebba Werner, who is involved in the Nature Conservation Society's project The World's Longest Flower Meadow. Organized in collaboration with Lund's Nature Conservation Association and Lund University's Sustainability Forum. Part of the Environmental Program series.
