We celebrate Hearing Impaired Day with a potpourri of music and speeches with a focus on hearing. We know that Beethoven had problems with his hearing and we marvel at the music he was able to create despite this. But how did Beethoven himself experience his problems? Do we know anything about the cause of his hearing loss? What is it like to play music today with hearing problems? Can today's aids compensate?
