The world's largest adventure film festival, the Banff Mountain Film Festival, goes on tour in Sweden and stops in Lund at Lund's Stadsteater on October 2. Eight films on the theme "mountain culture and adventure" will be shown during an inspiring and adventurous film evening starting at 18:30. The festival from Banff in Canada travels annually to around fifty countries on seven continents, where a selection of the year's competing festival films is shown.
The festival is a gathering point for everyone interested in mountains, storytelling and film. From the over 400 international entries submitted each year, award winners and audience favorites are selected to be screened in cinemas worldwide. World Tour takes audiences on journeys to remote locations, highlights important environmental issues and provides a unique insight into adrenaline-filled action and adventure sports, creating both an exciting and thought-provoking journey through the world's mountains.
Globally, the festival has 600 visitors per year, more than the Cannes Film Festival, Gothenburg Film Festival and Stockholm Film Festival combined. The range of films and the variety of the films is versatile and contains everything from documentaries to cartoons, from amateur to professional productions. Eight films will be shown on the big screen, focusing on climbing, skiing, cycling, surfing, fishing, caving, environment and culture.
