With the pipe organ as her natural choice, von Hausswolff has long explored the ethereal qualities of breath, where doomsday rock and heavy parts meet more intimate organ pieces. On her new album ICONOCLASTS, released last fall, she develops her sound further, and the darkness and the experimental are mixed with new, unexpected dimensions.
She produced the album herself together with her collaborator Filip Leyman. It features an impressive collection of artists, including Ethel Cain, Abul Mogard, Iggy Pop and Maria von Hausswolff.
Gothenburg-based Anna von Hausswolff made a big breakthrough in 2012 with the album Ceremony, the follow-up to her debut album Singing from the Grave (2010) – an album that laid the foundation for a series of critically acclaimed works. Highlights include Dead Magic (2018) and the organ-based solo work All Thoughts Fly (2020).
During her career, von Hausswolff has collaborated with prominent artists such as Wolves in the Throne Room, Swans, Sunn O))) and Yann Tiersen, as well as making her mark in film, theater and performing arts. After two eventful years with collaborations in film, theater and performing arts, among others, and a Scandinavian tour, she is now hitting the road again with her ICONOCLASTS TOUR in May.
